Russet Shack: Delicious loaded baked potatoes on Robson Street

Robson Street has gained a new foodie addition in the way of Russet Shack. The casual eatery, which takes the place of ManCakes Bakery, offers great whopping-sized baked potatoes loaded with an array of toppings.

While “jacket potatoes” (the British term for potatoes baked with their skin on) may seem like a peculiar item choice for a sit-down and take away spot to specialize in, any Brit can attest that this comforting eat is a fine option when you want to banish those nasty hunger pangs.

Baked in a dedicated oven, Russet Shack’s potatoes are crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, deliciously seasoned, and made fresh-to-order.

Selected over a self-order-system, customers have the choice between three types of spuds: a giant Russet potato, sweet potato, or a cluster of baby potatoes.

While some may opt to have their baked potato(es) plain, adding a dash of salt and some butter, Russet Shack offers many ways to decorate and enhance the humble spud. It’s also a haven for vegetarians; Russet Shack only offers one meat protein, tuna, on their toppings menu.

In addition to make-your-own potatoes, which can be topped with classic and/or gourmet ingredients, like greens onions, mushrooms, sweet corn, banana peppers, roasted eggplant, and baked beans, the single item eatery also features a variety of specialty items, all priced at $6.

Those looking for a more traditional jacket potato should dig into the British spud, which comes generously topped with shredded cheese, baked beans, and sweet corn, while those who enjoy Mediterranean flavours should opt for the Greek, which is piled high with Tzatziki, Kalamata Olives, feta cheese, and diced tomato.
