A section of downtown Vancouver’s Robson Street is currently closed and police are on scene after a car crashed through a storefront near Vancouver Public Library this afternoon.

According to early reports, the incident took place around 1 pm, but as of 3 pm, the car was still inside the store, while members of the VPD’s Traffic Unit continued to investigate the incident.

In the meantime, Robson is closed to all traffic between Hamilton and Homer Street.

The City of Vancouver tweeted that the driver of the vehicle and one customer in the store were taken to hospital, as a result of the incident.

A structural engineer was also called to assess the building for damage.
