To keep our shorelines clean, everyone needs to lend a helping hand. Sign up for the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup 2016 and do your part.
What started in 1994 as a small team of Vancouver Aquarium employees cleaning up a beach in Stanley Park has grown to hundreds of thousands of volunteers across the country in every province and territory. From dense urban centres to the wilds of the West Coast Trail, every mile of coast needs our help.
On top of promoting environmental conservation, the Shoreline Cleanup also aims to educate people on the issues surrounding the protection of our oceans and coastlines by connecting people with their environment. The youth of today will be the conservation leaders of tomorrow, and the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup hopes to pique their interest early.
British Columbia itself has hundreds of cleanup sites, with dozens in Metro Vancouver. To find one near you, visit the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup website.
