The Vancouver Energizer Night Race is coming to Stanley Park on Saturday, October 13th. There are nearly 150 running races annually in the Vancouver region, but one thing about the Energizer Night Race sets it apart from all the other runs. It is, of course, a run in the the nighttime dark, wearing headlamps.
As an avid runner, I can definitely say that I am quite excited about this nighttime race. I have never done a run at night as common wisdom tells us that nighttime runs are probably not as safe as daytime runs, nighttime safety and visibility are always common concerns. However, there is a certain novelty about running at night with thousands of others wearing headlamps, and in a city that has a strong running culture you can bet that this race will be a big attendance success. Everyone loves a fun run.
The Energizer Night Race will begin just after sunset, it will begin with the 10-km distance start followed by the 5-km distance start. Each participant will receive an Energizer LED headlamp (for visibility and safety purposes) as well as a neon Brooks Nightlife running shirt. All runners are required to wear the provided headlight during the run. A post-race party also awaits runners after crossing the finish line.
