Patio season opener: Reflections opens March 31 (PHOTOS)

You know spring has arrived in Vancouver when we can legit start talking about “patio season.” And one of the unofficial beacons is the opening of Reflections, the patio (or, technically, Garden Terrace) at downtown’s posh Rosewood Hotel Georgia.

Reflections, situated on a fourth-floor rooftop, underwent a major overhaul ahead of Patio Season ’16 (that’s a thing, right?) so guests will recognize the beach-chic decor, trees sparkling with twinkle lights, and the spacious bar.

This season, the open kitchen has had the last portion of its remodel, and if you’re there to eat as well as drink, that small but mighty kitchen is putting out some beautiful new dishes for lunch, brunch, snacks, and dinner.

Many dishes pull double- or triple- duty on the venue’s menus, with a dish like their beautiful Cobb Salad showing up at brunch and lunch, or their Rossdown Farms Sous Vide Chicken Breast with fries, romesco, and arugula available at lunch and dinner.

While lunch and brunch feature more individual dishes, the dinner menu includes multiple options for sharing, from appies to entrees easily divvied up among those at your table. (Whoever orders the Bacon and Leek Quiche had better be ready to give up a few bites to their dining companions–it’s so good!)

If you manage to save room for dessert, they’ve got a killer chocolate and passion fruit “slice” (think super sexy cake) on their lunch menu that comes topped with a wee bit of gold and sparkles in the sauce. It’s pretty magical for a mid-day treat.

And of course, there’s an exciting drink menu of classics, new favourites, and more coming from the bar–even smoothies, for those abstaining from the harder stuff. Look for their summery concoctions, like the Wreck Beach Breeze (The Botanist Gin, Giffard Lichi-Li, coconut water, and pomegranate), Watermelon Smash (Tito’s Vodka, lemon, mint, watermelon), and a Moscow Mule, among others.

It’s been a busy time for Reflections since it last saw the sunshine; over the Christmas holidays late last year the Garden Terrace had its first ever wintertime opening. Decked out with merry details and a holiday menu, Reflections was a great spot to curl up with a stiff drink and take a break from shopping or Christmas party-going.

Reflections will kick off Spring/Summer 2017 at 4 pm on March 31. The restaurant is open daily from 11:30 am to 10:30 pm with brunch service on weekends only from 11:30 am to 3 pm.
