Get your helmets ready, Bike To Work Week is returning to Vancouver for another year, between May 30 and June 5.

Beyond the freedom of feeling the wind in your face and the joy that comes with getting a daily dose of fresh air, there are many reasons why riding your bike to work can have a positive impact on your life.

Here are five reasons to get on your bike this summer.

1. You’ll look and feel great

There’s a special kind of drudgery that comes with exercising on a daily basis, but if you ride your bike, you’ll forget you’re even doing it while making positive strides towards a healthier lifestyle.

2. It’s convenient

For city dwellers and commuters alike, driving a car can be more of a hassle than it’s worth. With loads of bike lanes and racks around the city, it’s easy to get around and “park” your bike once you arrive at work.

3. You’ll save money

Imagine all the things you can do with the money you’ll save in gas. The possibilities are endless.

4) You’ll prove a point

Showing policymakers that Vancouverites enjoy a cleaner, healthier, bike-friendly city encourages them to make it safer for cyclists.

5) There are prizes to be had

If those other reasons weren’t enough, you could win prizes just by signing up for Bike To Work Week. There are eight new bikes and a trip to Amsterdam to be had.

If you want to make a change for a week, head to bikehub.ca to sign up.
