Rally in support of fired Vancouver School Board to take place tonight

A rally in support of the fired Vancouver School Board (VSB) trustees will take place tonight at 5:30 pm outside the VSB headquarters at 1580 West Broadway in Vancouver.

The BC Ministry of Education dissolved the VSB after it failed to approve a balanced budget.

According to Education Minister Mike Bernier, the VSB “misplaced focus on political tactics rather than responsible stewardship.”

At this time, there are no plans for a by-election to vote in a new board of trustees.

VSB-associated unions including the Vancouver Secondary Teachers’ Association and the Canadian Union of Public Employees are organizing tonight’s rally.
