This comfy pan-Latin spot welcomes all who are looking for delicious eats, tasty cocktails and a chill vibe for sharing a meal with good company.

Cuchillo Restaurant Entrance

Stroll east on Powell Street and you’ll come across a bright purple neon sugar skull hovering over a floor to ceiling glass storefront and you’re at Cuchillo. Step inside and immediately you’ll notice the decor: old time movie and lucha libre posters line an entire wall, exposed pipes and rich coloured wooden beams up on the ceiling, grey brick walls unique to the building, relaxed dim lighting, and glossy dark furniture all around. There’s no doubt that the space has character. Not to mention their display of 9 hand-crafted skulls.

Party of five? No Problem! Table for two? They’ve got some intimate seating. Booths, a bar, lounge-type seating, high tables and best of all a grand communal table right down the center – plenty of seating options. Cuchillo is definitely a place where you can round up a gang of friends and relax or take a date to try out some innovative dishes.

Speaking of dishes…

Cuchillo Restaurant Chorizo Mash

Their menu is wild. Pan-Latin pretty much means flavour everywhere. Everything from pulled duck tacos, to chorizo mashed potatoes with sirloin steak and a crowd favourite, pork belly with double fried plantain. You’re definitely going to need some time with the menu. There are so many choices and all of them have their own uniqueness equally appealing as the next. Every dish has something interesting and upon leaving you’ll want to come back to try something new until you’ve eaten it all.

You could call their menu a nice selection of tapas, but a more accurate explanation would be family-style share plates. All of their portions can be modified to suit how many people are eating.  Four tacos instead of two never hurt nobody.

It would also be insulting not to mention their carefully crafted cocktail and wine list. Just as interesting as the food menu, which will also leave you wanting more.

Trying something new would be an understatement for dining at Cuchillo. Enriching your food culture is probably a better way to describe a visit to Cuchillo. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, food and drink are interesting and exciting, and it’s just a great place to lay back and eat.
