On July 15, 1959, a 33-year-old Queen Elizabeth II presided over the opening of the Deas Island (now George Massey) Tunnel.
The video definitely has a ’50s feel to it, as regal music plays over blurry black-and-white footage of a bunch of vaguely important-looking white people stepping out of nice cars and shaking hands.
Some remarks are given, people pretend to care, and then the Queen cuts the ribbon herself!
