Now there’s going to be a vibrant place where you can dance to groovy music in Vancouver during the day.
Starting this coming Saturday, July 29, Vancouver will host the first free Public Disco pop-up event that’s set to turn an average outdoor space into a buzzing dance party.
You can go along to Alley Oop on West Hastings Street to check out an immersive dance floor environment or chill out in the lounging area. And you’ll get to hear the city’s top DJs spinning house and disco tracks to get you moving to the rhythmic beats.
And it won’t be a one-time event.
Public Discos are scheduled to take place in different neighbourhoods throughout the city every second Saturday until September 9.
The all-ages events will be bringing dance club vibes to the streets and you can even bring the kids along to enjoy the kids zone filled with vintage disco era toys.
Public Discos are being organized by the folks behind Groundwerk, a local music organization focusing on artist development and music events in alternative spaces. And their series of pop-up events will be funded by a new VIVA Vancouver grant program, with support from the neighbourhood BIA’s.
Organizers behind Public Disco are aiming to connect Vancouverites through rhythm and dance in high traffic locations around the city. So, are you ready to dance?
