Win $500 worth of prizes for the ultimate home upgrade (CONTEST)

Nov 15 2018, 4:27 am

There’s never a wrong time to consider giving your home a little TLC. But with the holidays fast approaching (plus the grind of everyday life) it’s easy to lose track of things.

Home renovations can be delayed and shoved aside, until suddenly you’re looking at busted pipes or a broken door, and by that point it’s too late. Not fun.

To help you complete your much-needed home renovations, we’re giving away $500 worth of prizes from local businesses along Kootenay and Graveley streets just west of Boundary Road. This covers everything from festive items to help fill your pantry and paint for your living room, to the coffee you’ll be drinking while you redecorate. (We’ve thought of everything.)

If you’ve visited the area recently, you may have noticed that access via Graveley Street, off of Boundary Road, is closed. This closure is expected to finish in early December once gas line upgrades carried out by FortisBC are complete.

But that shouldn’t hold you back from visiting your favourite local spots in the area, as you can still access it using Valiant Street, off of East 1st Avenue. Best of all, you can win a gift package including gift cards for all of these gems. Here’s what to look forward to on your next visit:

Bosa Foods

Bosa Foods/Facebook

For over 60 years, family-owned Bosa Foods has been a leading importer and distributor of specialty Italian and Mediterranean food products in Western Canada. Shelves are stocked with hundreds of varieties of olive oil, vinegar, pasta, truffles, tapenades, spreads, and more, says Stefano Bortolussi, export/sales representative at Bosa Foods.

Stefano explains that it’s not just all about the food — some of the staff have been with Bosa Foods for 20 to 30 years. “Customers enjoy the friendships they’ve made here. They also know they’ll get help sourcing whatever specific, or hard-to-find, item they’re looking for.”

“There’s a sense of community throughout our little Business Park. We know our neighbours, frequent their businesses, know their names, and their dogs’ names,” said Zooey Barnes, office manager at Long Life Windows & Doors. Barnes feels that Ethical Bean Coffee on Kootenay Street is a hidden gem that everyone should check out.

Having quick access to Highway 1 and being in the centre of the action we feel is quite beneficial for our walk-in business,” said Bradley Gionet of Westeck.
