Potluck Café Society, in conjunction with the generous financial support of PwC has recently launched a “healthy recess snack” program with Lord Strathcona School, located in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Each school day for the coming months, 50 nutritionally vulnerable children will be provided with a wholesome snack, consisting of a yogurt and an apple; one of the many initiatives Potluck spearheads as a continuous effort to transform lives for marginalized people of all ages living in Vancouver’s DTES. Always a community effort, a team of schoolchildren from various classes wash the apples delivered by Potluck which will be enjoyed by their classmates.

Potluck is purchasing these products through their DTES Kitchen Tables Food Procurement Group. The project is led by the Potluck Cafe Society in collaboration with multiple organizations to improve the health of Downtown Eastside residents of all ages by increasing the availability and choice of nutritious food neighbourhood-wide.

In order to provide more healthy snacks to nutritionally vulnerable members in Vancouver, Potluck continues to seek further financial support from businesses in our community.

Potluck is a highly respected social enterprise founded in 2001 to help end the cycle of poverty in the Downtown Eastside community and address the needs of its most nutritionally vulnerable residents through solutions that promote employment and nutrition. Potluck works to create an inclusive and healthy neighborhood through a social enterprise approach.
