Free European-style market Portobello West in Vancouver next month

May 17 2017, 11:24 pm

Close to 100 of Vancouver’s best artisans and designers will be showcasing their wares at the Portobello West market next month.

The European-style market will take place at the Creekside Community Centre during this year’s Concord Pacific Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival, from June 23 to 25.

And the best part? It’s completely free to attend.

You’ll be able to experience a true cultured-filled market atmosphere as you browse vendor stalls selling beautiful, local hand-sewn and hand-dyed fashion including kimonos, dresses, and shawls with Pacific Northwest flair, along with food, artwork, wine, home decor, and accessories.

You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Europe without having to leave Vancouver at the Portobello West market. Spend your sunny June afternoon sampling BC’s finest wines or distilled spirits and indulge in some hand-crafted chocolates or shortbread.

If you’re running low on condiments at home, hold out until the market and snap up some unique Canadian flavours as producers will be selling some unusual elixirs and hot sauces.

You could also be inspired for gift ideas as quirky hand-made art cards, designer jewellery, accessories, bedding, and children’s toys will be on sale.

Running for its 11th year, non-profit Portobello West is led by a volunteer board with a goal of fostering community connections and promoting the best of local and Pacific Northwest art, food and fashion.

A refreshing aspect of the market is that it will be taking place during the Concord Pacific Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival. So, this means you can check out the races and take a break to explore the market, free of charge.

If you’re interested in becoming a vendor at the Portobello West market, all you have to do is register online via Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival. You can also read more at Dragon Boat BC’s Drum Beat Blog.
