Police officer suffers injuries after morning crash in Port Coquitlam

An early-morning crash in Port Coquitlam on the Lougheed Highway on Friday sent a police officer and one other person to hospital with minor injuries.

Coquitlam RCMP said that just before 6 am, an officer was responding to a call in the area of Lougheed Highway and Coast Meridian Street in Port Coquitlam, when a collision occurred between the officer’s vehicle and a civilian vehicle.

“The scene was immediately secured and the Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Service have been called to assist in the investigation,” said RCMP spokesperson, Cpl. Janelle Shoihet in a statement.

“At this time the circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation.”

The officer and the civilian were transported to a local area hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries.

Now police are asking anyone who witnessed this collision and hasn’t already contacted police to call the Coquitlam detachment at at 604-945-1550.
