If you’ve got the soul of a retro gamer, you’ll never be growing tired of ’80s and ’90s arcade games.
Landyatchz Longboards, a local skate shop in Strathcona, is featuring a pop-up classic arcade room from July to October.
“We’ve been planning on opening a coffee shop in the space, but we decided to have some fun with the space before putting in all the work for kitchen and plumbing and stuff,” said Jeff Radomsky, operations manager at Landyachtz.
Radomsky said he’s always been a big fan of classic arcade, and remembers playing them when old skate shops would feature arcade machines in their businesses.
“This space is kind of perfect for it,” he said.
East Van Amusement, a gaming equipment company saw the space and decided to partner with Landyatchz to provide arcade machines for a four-month duration.
Customers will not be charged an entry fee, and games cost from $0.25 to $1. Weekly events and different contests will be held, and two nights a month there will be liquor licensing and plenty beer league contests.
