The Pop Danthology 2015 single-track mix of this year’s best pop music landed today, arriving several weeks earlier than previous editions.
Vancouver music producer Daniel Kim has been producing his popular mashups every single year since 2010, and every single edition has gone viral. Last year’s edition has raked nearly 28 million views on YouTube while 2012’s edition proved to be the most popular with over 70 million views.
There is one main difference between this year’s Pop Danthology: The annual roundup is split into two videos highlighting 82 songs, with 37 songs in Part 1 and 45 songs in Part 2.
“For the first time, I am releasing two Danthologies at once,” Kim wrote on his blog. “With music from all over the world becoming more and more accessible, it has become increasingly more challenging to satisfy my fans and fit in all of their many favourite songs in my year-end mashup.”
“I found myself cutting down so much of the original musical pieces just to ‘jam’ in as many songs as I could. Not only was the work process not as enjoyable this way but the resulting sound was more choppy.”
This year’s mashup features songs by artists such as Drake, Alesso, Pitbull, Zedd, Madonna, Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris, and even Justin Bieber.
