Another year is coming to an end, and for Vancouver’s Daniel Kim that means topping everything off with a mashup of the year’s top pop songs in what he dubs as Pop Danthology 2013.

It took Daniel Kim 180 hours to complete this year’s Pop Danthology, a process that includes pre-planning, gathering audio, arranging and mixing, gathering corresponding video before finally editing the video.

According to Kim, “the first and least exciting part of making Pop Danthology is gathering all the different instrumental and acapella tracks, audio stems, and full songs. I searched all over the internet like a determined chef searches different markets and grocery stores for his ingredients.”

“A lot of planning is required in the making of Pop Danthology because not all songs fit nicely into one stationary tempo and key,” added Kim. “The fun part began only after investing 42 hours into this epic project… this is the part I get to combine all the different sounds together to make new sounds.”

The music video mashes up 68 of the year’s top pop songs together into a seamless melody to provides listeners with a dose of nostalgia and an escape from the modern grind.

Pop Danthology 2013 is Kim’s fourth annual year-end music mix with each video attaining millions of views and near-universal praise. Last year’s Pop Danthology 2012 has achieved more than 44.2-million views.

To date, after only 3 days, his 2013 video on YouTube has already clocked more than 2.3-million views, 11,500+ comments, and nearly 57,000 likes with just 700 dislikes.
