UPDATE: Police have arrested the man that was barricaded in his home following a lengthy stand-off on Manor near Euclid Street.

After about 11 hours of negotiations, police entered the home and managed to take the 43 year old resident in to custody without incident. He has been transported to jail for last night’s alleged assault, as well as the outstanding arrest warrants for assault, assaulting a police officer and attempting to disarm a police officer.

Earlier today:

Police are trying to arrest a 43 year old man on Manor near Euclid Street who has barricaded himself inside his home.

The incident began shortly after 11:30 last night. Police were called when he allegedly hit another man in an unprovoked attack.

The suspect is arrestable for the assault last night and also has several outstanding arrest warrants for assault, assaulting a police officer and attempting to disarm a police officer. Those warrants stem from an incident that occurred in November.

Investigators have obtained a warrant to enter the home, but are using incremental steps and continuing to try and negotiate to resolve the incident quickly and peacefully.

It is believed deteriorating mental health may be a factor.
