Vancouver Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred in the Vancouver Westside during the early morning hours of New Year’s Day.

The department says they responded to a report of an incident at a residence on West 20th Avenue near Macdonald Street at approximately 4 a.m. When officers arrived to the scene, they discovered a 20-year-old man who had suffered serious stab wounds.

The victim was taken to hospital and is now in stable condition.

It is believed the stabbing incident may have occurred on the street and was possibly connected to a gathering at the house. The VPD’s Major Crime Section is in the early stages of investigating the incident: the motive for the stabbing has yet to be determined and no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Vancouver Police at (604) 717-2541 or Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
