Police investigate shooting in Surrey

DH Vancouver Staff Mar 06, 2016 8:26 am

Police in Surrey are investigating what appears to be another targeted shooting.

At approximately 6:26 p.m. on Saturday evening, 9-1-1 calls to report of shots being heard in the vicinity of 62nd Avenue and 142nd Street – just one block away from an elementary school. When officers arrived at the scene, they found several shell casings in the area.

Witnesses told police they saw two vehicles drive off, with the occupants of one vehicle shooting at the other.

More shell casings were found nearby at the intersection of 142nd Street and 64th Avenue. As well, officers located a white Ford pickup with bullet holes, which matched the witness description of one of the two vehicles. The other vehicle was described as a smaller car.

Few details are available at this time as the investigation is still in its early stages.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or observed either vehicle leaving the area is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers’ anonymous hotline at 1-800-222-8477.
