It was a busy Tuesday night for Surrey RCMP as officers responded to two separate incidents in their jurisdiction.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., a shooting was reported in the 10800 block of 143 Street. When officers arrived to the scene, they found a male with non-life threatening injuries and transported him to a local hospital.

“Officers are conducting neighbourhood canvassing and speaking with witnesses to obtain further information,” reads a statement by police. “The investigation is still in its early stages, but initial indications are that this is a targeted incident.”

Shortly after at 9:30 p.m., officers were deployed to the 8700 block of Tulsy Crescent after receiving reports of a stabbing. A 58-year-old male was discovered at the scene with life-threatening stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Police have taken one suspect into custody in the stabbing incident and are continuing to canvass the neighbourhood and speak to witnesses.

Anyone with information that could assist investigators in either incident is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers’ anonymous hotline at 1-800-222-8477.
