Vancouver Police are investigating a possible child luring attempt at an East Vancouver park on Sunday afternoon.

According to a release, the incident occurred at approximately 2 p.m. at Melbourne Park, just east of SkyTrain’s Joyce-Collingwood Station. A woman apparently attempted to lure a 12-year-old boy out of the area, but she was stopped by an adult. Immediately after the confrontation, she left the park.

Police describe the woman as Caucasian, 5’7″ tall and 125 pounds, with blonde hair in a ponytail and protruding front teeth. At the time of the encounter, she was wearing a dark jacket, a white tank top with red writing and faded blue jeans. She also had a backpack with a jacket hanging off the side.

CCTV footage obtained by police indicates the woman boarded SkyTrain and disembarked at Surrey Central Station a short while later at about 2:30 p.m.

Anyone with information that could assist investigators is asked to call the Vancouver Police at 604-717-0601 or Crime Stoppers’ anonymous hotline at 1-800-222-8477.
