Two schools in Surrey were under lockdown this afternoon.
Surrey RCMP received an “unsubstantiated report of a violent domestic incident,” by BC Ambulance Service. The Integrated Emergency Response Team along with patrol officers responded to the scene within minutes, at 14600 block at 17A Ave.
The two schools, H.T. Thrift Elementary and Semiahmoo Secondary School, were put under lockdown just after 12 p.m. as a safety measure.
South Surrey Indoor Pool was under lockdown as well.
The lockdown has since been lifted, and police at the site have discovered it was a fictitious call. Though the prank call deployed armoured vehicles, a canine unite, the Emergency Response Team, along with firefighters and paramedics.
“You should see the weaponry they pulled out,” area resident Brian Gough told the Peace Arch News.
Public mischief has a maximum sentence of five years in jail, and a fined of up to $5,000.
