A suspect has been arrested for Saturday morning’s unusual hit and run incident on Highway 99 in Pemberton. RCMP say they have arrested a 35-year-old male who resides in Port Douglas.

At approximately 11:15 a.m., a pickup truck struck a pedestrian on the shoulder of Highway 99 near Portage Road. Witnesses told police that the truck driver then “got the pedestrian into the truck and drove away” northbound on the highway. A witness was able to capture a photo of the truck as it made its escape.

It is unclear whether the pedestrian was injured by the collision with the truck.

Police are still looking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident. Anyone who may have more information on the incident and the vehicles is asked to contact the Pemberton RCMP at 604-894-6126 or Crimestoppers’ anonymous hotline at 1-800-222-8477.
