Several voyeurism reports have flooded into the University of British Columbia’s security office lately, leading the school to heighten campus patrols.

The incidences happened at the Vanier Place and Totem Park residences and RCMP presence has been increased at the two buildings. The reports state that an intruder, or possibly several intruders, looked through locked residence doors at female students in various states of undress.

UBC Campus Security and Student Housing and Hospitality Services have also increased security. A third party security company has been hired to take on the extra patrols.

Staff are also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at each residence to provide assistance.

Campus security wants to remind anyone at UBC to call 9-1-1 if they witness a crime in progress. To report suspicious activity, contact UBC security at 604.822.2222 or the RCMP at 604.224.1322 (non-emergency number).
