Pedestrian killed in East Vancouver collision

A pedestrian involved in a vehicle collision in East Vancouver late this evening has died from her injuries.

According to Vancouver Police, the incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. when a woman was crossing East 41st Avenue near Kerr Street and subsequently struck by a vehicle traveling on the eastbound direction.

She was pronounced dead when first responders arrived to the scene.

Police say that the driver of the car involved in the collision remained at the collision site and is cooperating with police.

The cause of the incident is not known as the investigation is still in the early stages. Investigators with the VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit will be at the location throughout the night. To allow for the investigation, East 41st Avenue from Rupert Street to Kingsway Avenue will remain closed until further notice.
