The Vancouver municipal election is around the corner and one party wants to get your votes by singing about the city’s affordability issues.

OneCity Vancouver has come out with what they call a “love song” to the city.

The two-minute song is actually a cover of Trooper’s We’re Here For A Good Time and features the vocal talents of Vancouver comedian Charles Demers. It also features appearances by OneCity’s candidates.

Christine Boyle and Brandon Yan are running for city council, while Carrie Bercic, Erica Jaaf, and Jennifer Reddy are running for school board. The party does not have a member running for mayor.

The song itself is basically about how expensive it is to live in Vancouver and features lyrics like:

Cause it’s no use trying, in this crazy city and to think of buyin’ ooh I’d need money like P. Diddy.

Yeah, it’s a bit cheesy but the song makes a point.
