“Our New Year’s Eve celebration is now in its third year, and it wouldn’t be possible without the small army of volunteers that gather on this night,” said Dani Pretto, the Chair of the Vancouver New Year’s Eve Celebration Society, the not-for-profit organization that organizes the annual event.

“For us, NYE has always been about a community coming together and celebrating its achievements, while also looking forward to the possibilities of the future.”

The annual festival is an all-ages, family-friendly event that celebrates the community and its successes, both individual and the collective. Last year’s festival attracted an attendance of 105,000 revellers.

This year’s celebration at Canada Place Way in downtown Vancouver starts at 7 pm and runs late into the night. It consists of: multiple stages for live music; dozens of bands, artists, and street entertainers; 20 food trucks; and two fireworks shows – a five-minute Family Fireworks show at 9 pm and a spectacular 12-minute midnight moment finale.

Additionally, the event also carries a significant indoor component inside the West Building of the Vancouver Convention Centre. This all-ages, family-friendly indoor party will be the biggest indoor NYE party in Vancouver and the only indoor party with a view of the spectacular fireworks shows at 9 pm and midnight.

Organizers are seeking volunteers for roles that include Event Ambassadors (greeting and directing revellers as they arrive at the festival site), Event Production Assistants (assisting the production crew and the pick-up and drop-off of supplies), and Family Zone Assistants (assisting with the indoor craft stations, and interacting with children and their families).

In exchange, volunteers will receive toques from RYU, coffee, hot chocolate, and of course the opportunity to meet new people, be part of an epic event, and gain new experiences.
