Police are seeking the public’s help after a 25-year-old man was killed in a shooting in North Vancouver on Christmas Day.

At 8:12 pm on December 25, North Vancouver RCMP responded to reports of a shooting in a parkade near Mountain Highway and East Keith Road, and found 25-year-old Rock Habib-Joumaa with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Habib-Joumaa is known to police but doesn’t have a criminal record, RCMP said. While the investigation is in its early stages, police say information indicates this was a targeted shooting.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is looking for two people who were in the area and may be connected to the shooting.

“This shooting violated the tranquility of the holidays,” Corporal David Lee of IHIT said in a release. “There are people out there who knew of Mr. Habib-Joumaa’s activities or have seen the two persons of interest. We ask anyone with information, or video in the area of 600 block of Seylynn Crescent, to contact IHIT immediately.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-4448, or by email at [email protected]. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
