We’re taking a tasty tour of Vancouver’s many brunches to create The Ultimate Vancouver Brunch Guide. This week we’re savouring a memorable Italian-style meal at Nook.

From 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays Nook, one of Vancouver’s favourite traditional Italian pizzerias, serves up a pretty sensational brunch spread.

Available at the Kitsilano locale only, Nook’s brunch menu is comprised of Italian-inspired starters, oven-baked dishes, breakfast sandwiches, pizza (who said you can’t have pizza for breakfast?), and an enticing array of add-ons (baby meatballs, roasted garlic, and burrata, just to name a few).

Top picks include: Chopped Avocado on toast ($10); Baked Ricotta with honey and black pepper ($10); Baked Eggs in a Skillet with Italian Sausage and Tomato Sauce ($14); the Breakfast Sandwich of the Day ($12); a homemade pizza pie topped with prosciutto, arugula, and roast garlic ($20), and the Italian Breakfast brunch board, featuring cured meats, parmesan, a soft boiled egg, and olives ($18).

Brunch goers who simply can’t resist eggs at brunch should not pass up the opportunity to dig into the Baked Eggs in a Skillet with Italian Sausage. This hearty and winter-friendly meal is super gratifying, thanks to deliciously juicy chunks of sausage, flavoursome homemade tomato sauce, and lightly charred toast–perfect for soaking up the drippy egg yolk.

Another fantastic meal is the Breakfast Sandwich of the Day. While the fillings change from week to week, brunch goers can expect to discover something along the lines of this little beauty; bacon, egg, white cheddar, and smashed avocado. Sandwiched between two slices of wood-fired bread (made from the pizzeria’s own pizza dough), patrons will find it difficult not to scarf this sandwich down immediately.

For something sugary, diners have the option to bite into the Baby Dutch Pancake ($14). Incredibly sweet, this treat, which is served with roasted seasonal fruit and mascarpone cream, is best enjoyed at the end of the meal and split between two.

Drink wise, Nook offers diners a varied selection of libations, from bubbly beverages (Bellinis, Mimosas, Negronis, and an Italian Margarita) to “sober” creations. Alongside OJ, soft drinks, and non-alcoholic beer, Nook also features sparking refreshments, like the Pesca. Made with homemade peach puree and soda, this fizzy sipper is light, delightfully sweet, and extremely easy to drink.

In addition to the alluring food and drink offerings prepared at Nook, the Yew Street outpost also boasts a distinctly warm and comfortable environment, generated by friendly service, warm lighting, cozy nooks, and ample seating.
