Police seek witnesses after 11-year-old girl hurt in New West hit-and-run

An 11-year-old girl was hospitalized and police are are asking for the public’s help after a hit-and-run in New Westminster recently.

The appeal for information comes after the girl was hit while crossing the street at 7th Avenue and 12th Street, around 5 pm last Thursday.

Police said the girl was hit while she was in the crosswalk by the driver of what is believed to be a silver or grey SUV, which may now have a damaged passenger-side mirror as a result of the incident.

“This hit and run happened in very thick fog,” said New Westminster Police Sgt. Jeff Scott. “Because of incidents like this we are appealing to drivers to please drive for the conditions, use your headlights, and watch for pedestrians.”
