Calling all bee and garden enthusiasts!

The Vancouver Park Board will be hosting a community planting event on Saturday, November 19, at a new temporary pop-up park at Fifth Avenue and Pine Street.

Everyone is welcome to come help plant a pollinator garden with more 1,500 plants to provide a habitat for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.

The garden space will be filled with sage, asters, and bee balms in order to encourage pollination in the urban park.

The event is rain or shine, so be sure to dress accordingly. Gardening gloves and warm goodies will be provided on site.

Eventually, the 1,300 m² park will feature bird and bee houses, edible plants, and outdoor seating and a common area constructed with wood from fir timbers from a fallen tree in Stanley Park.

The park will be open to the public sometime after Saturday’s planting event.
