New non-stop flights from Vancouver to Paris and Zurich start this week

Jun 7 2018, 2:54 am

Two new direct, non-stop flight services to key destinations in the European mainland will arguably be the most significant flight route additions to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) this year to date.

Air Canada will launch a new three times weekly seasonal service from YVR to Zurich Airport in Switzerland starting Thursday, June 7.

Flights will operate until October 14, with flights leaving YVR at 12:55 pm on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and arriving at ZRH at 7:50 am the next day. Return trips will leave ZRH at 9:30 am on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday and land at YVR at 10:50 am the same day.

And then the following day on Friday, June 8, the airline will launch a four times weekly seasonal service to Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Running until October 15, the new service to France will leave YVR at 1:30 pm on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday and arrive at Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) at 8:15 am the next day. For the return trip, flights will depart Charles de Gaulle Airport at 9:55 am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and arrive at YVR at 10:50 am the same day.

Both new routes, which were announced in summer 2017, will utilize the new state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Other new route improvements by Air Canada flying from YVR include last week’s upgrade of the Melbourne route to three times weekly year-round service and the upgrade of the Delhi route to four times weekly year-round.

Then in the fall, Air Canada will be making major upgrades to its flights to three destinations on the Hawaiian archipelago.
