Your next ‘Netflix and chill’ sessions are about to get more expensive as another monthly price hike has hit subscribers of the popular streaming service.

Netflix streamers might become screamers when they get their monthly statement.

Netflix Canada has announced that it would be increasing its membership fees to new and existing members. The price increase will be effective immediately.

In a phone call with Daily Hive, a Netflix customer service employee says, “members will gradually be getting emails depending on when you signed up for the service. Prices will increase according to your plan and all members will get a 30-day notice prior to when the changes will go into effect.”

Netflix’s basic package will increase from $8.99 to $9.99, the standard $10.99 deal will increase by $3 to $13.99 a month. The standard deal allows users to watch two different screens at the same time.

Netflix’s most expensive monthly plan, the premium, is also hiking up by $3, going from $13.99 to $16.99. The premium membership allows for up to four simultaneous streams and ultra high definition 4K video.

The spokesperson continued to say that the reason for the price increase is so Netflix can continue to “innovate our services, add new features, and stay competitive with our ever-growing competition.”

The last time Netflix raised its prices in Canada was just over a year ago, in August 2017.

It might be time to grab those old DVDs out of storage.
