Music Monday: Handsome Tiger's Middle Eastern electronic beats

DH Vancouver Staff Feb 22, 2016 9:21 am

If you’re in the local electronic scene, you may have come across Handsome Tiger.
The up-and-coming Vancouver producer often plays local shows, and has recently released his latest track Inshallah.

The Tiger, aka Hussein Elnamer, has been in the music community for years. He fronted indie band A Name Unheard for a while before making the genre switch to electronic. Being half Arabic myself, I can hear the Middle Eastern sounds that influence Elnamer. Inshallah, a regularly used term in the Middle East that translates to “God willing,” is a musical mix of down tempo and soulful Arabic beats. This isn’t the traditional belly dancing sounds, but rather, a new and original take on a historical genre.

Check out Handsome Tiger’s latest, Inshallah.
