24-year-old man murdered in Abbotsford shooting

Police are appealing for the public’s help after a 24-year-old man was murdered in a shooting in Abbotsford on Friday.

According to a release, police received reports of multiple shots fired around Ridgeview Drive and Promontory Court at about 6:30 pm.

On arrival, police found Abbotsford man Lovepreet Singh Dhaliwal with gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are treating Dhaliwal’s death as a homicide, and say they believe the shooting was targeted. However, they are asking for the public’s help.

Police say a black Acura TL was seen leaving the scene after the shooting, and a vehicle matching that description was found burnt in Langley in the 22300 block of 61st Avenue.

Anyone who knows anything about the vehicle or about the case is urged to come forward to help the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

“There are people who knew Mr. Dhaliwal that may have information that could help us solve his murder,” said Cpl. Frank Jang.

“I urge these individuals to come forward and speak with IHIT.”
