Bright blue skies, sunshine, an ocean breeze… Is there anything better than summertime in Vancouver? We think not – except maybe seeing your favourite stars on location, live and in action!
Here are 13 TV shows and movies filming in and around Vancouver this July.
Deadpool 2
Deadpool 2 –Â also known by its working title of ‘Love Machine’ – began filming in Vancouver recently and will continue until October.
That’s right ladies, Ryan Reynolds is back in town. The comedy action movie stars Reynolds who will return to the big screen, and his hometown, in his tight red spandex as main character Wade Wilson in this sequel.
Dragged Across ConcreteÂ
This new movie starring Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn is set to start filming in Vancouver in late July and continue into September. The crime drama centres on the pair who play police officers that get suspended when video footage of them gets out to the public, and eventually end up entering the criminal world.
Overboard
Overboard is a remake of the 1987 movie of the same name starring bubbly blonde Anna Faris alongside Eugenio Debrez and Eva Longoria, and began filming in Vancouver recently.
Both Faris and Longoria were spotted in Steveston Village earlier this month filming scenes for the movie, which follows a rich and spoiled yacht owner who is thrown overboard after a distraught employee seeks revenge.
Summer of ’84
Summer of ’84 is filming in Vancouver this July through August. The feature film – starring William MacDonald and Caleb Emery – follows a group of teenagers who suspect that their police officer neighbour is a serial killer. The group begins to spy on him but quickly realize that uncovering the truth can be dangerous.
Riverdale – Season 2
The hit show Riverdale returned to Metro Vancouver to film its second season this past month. Some of the cast were spotted at Barnet Marine Park recently to film a wedding scene, supposedly between Archie and Veronica.
Now that we know who killed Jason Blossom, who knows what season two will have in store!
Once Upon a Time – Season 7
The fairytale continues in Steveston Village this summer to film the latest instalment of Once Upon a Time. A little spoiler for the new season was announced when writer Adam Horowitz tweeted this out.

Fans had mixed reactions to the news, with some wondering where the storyline will go after the season 6 finale. Guess we will have to watch and find out – in the meantime head on down to Steveston to catch some of the action!
Misfits – Season 1
Misfits began filming in Vancouver at the end of June and will continue into July. The new TV series stars Jake Cannavale, Allie MacDonald, Tre Hall and Ashleigh LaThrop. The show, which is a remake of the British series of the same name, will follow the lives of a group of young adults who are exposed to an unknown chemical and suddenly develop superpowers.
Hit the Road – Season 1
Hit the Road is a new comedy series filming in town this month starring the hilarious Jason Alexander. The series will focus on a travelling family band called ‘The Swallows’ which is led by Alexander. The family sets out on an adventure of a lifetime in their tour bus, with hopes of finding fame and fortune.
Beyond – Season 2
Beyond is a TV series about a man who awakes from a coma with supernatural powers, and now must adjust to a new world while figuring out what has happened while he was unconscious for the past 12 years.
The show was renewed for a second series in January and season 2 will be filming in Vancouver into August.
Chesapeake Shores – Season 2
Chesapeake Shores will be returning to BC to film its second season until mid July. The series focuses on single mother Abby O’Brien, played by BC born actress Meghan Ory, who returns to her hometown from the big apple, New York. Joining Ory back on screen for season two is Jesse Metcalfe.
Supernatural – Season 13
Back for its 13th season, Supernatural will be filming in Metro Vancouver this July starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. The series was renewed for another season in January and is set to air on The CW this fall.
Arrow – Season 6
Arrow returns to shoot its sixth season this July in Vancouver and star Stephen Amell was quoted saying that he hopes the new season will be more like the actual comics. After ending last season on a total cliffhanger, fans are just dying to know what will happen next!
Supergirl – Season 3
Supergirl is back to save the day! Season 3 of the hit series is scheduled to start filming in Vancouver this July. Rumour has it that the new season will really test Supergirl‘s strength when she must take on a powerful creature from her hometown of Krypton.
