Last year, Vancouver came out on top in the most reputable cities in the world list. This year, our city has slipped out of the top 10 and into the 14th spot.
According to the Reputation Institute’s list of the world’s 100 most reputable cities, Vancouver fell 13 spots while its bigger Canadian counterpart, Toronto, rose like a phoenix to land the number two spot, just behind Sydney, Australia. Toronto didn’t even crack the top 20 last year.
The study ranks the world’s 100 most reputable cities based on levels of trust, esteem, admiration and respect. It also looks at cities advanced economy, environment and effective government.
If you’re wondering why the world’s large metropolitan areas didn’t rank higher, the survey states that small to medium, safe, eco-conscious cities perform better than metropolises such as London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and New York because they face less challenges in managing their reputation.
