Montreal dancers in North Vancouver to celebrate Canada's 150th

Jul 22 2017, 4:07 am

Montreal’s Dance Collective Alt-Shift is in town to put on an ART+PLACE show this weekend in North Vancouver dedicated to celebrating Canada’s 150th.

After warming up all week at community workshops and in the Branch Refinement exhibition at CityScape Community Art Space, the dancers are ready for action.

They’ll be giving a special ART+PLACE performance at, around, and through the Cathedral sculpture in Waterfront Park.

ART+PLACE is a special project to showcase Entrelacs, a unique choreographic piece created in an interaction with public art.

The project sets in motion public space and community through dance by weaving steps and movement within the design of the sculpture.

It allows bystanders to rediscover the place in a singular and poetic way, and a violinist will begin a dialogue with the dancing bodies.

Visual artists will also be on hand to demonstrate our connection to place and there will also be interactive arts activities.

ART + PLACE

When: Saturday, July 22

Time: 2 to 5:30 pm

Where: Waterfront Park – 200 Esplanade W, North Vancouver

Admission: Free
