What Will the Whitecaps do at the MLS SuperDraft?

The Vancouver Whitecaps are getting closer to the kickoff of their second season in the MLS. One of the last events of the off-season is on Thursday, the MLS SuperDraft.

Heading into Thursday SuperDraft in Kansas City the Whitecaps are sitting in a nice position. The Vancouver squad holds the 2nd overall pick in the draft and if they make a wise move like they did last year this should help propel the team out of the basement in the MLS standings.

As you may remember, last season the Whitecaps had the 1st overall pick and they chose young striker Omar Salgado. Salgado had a roller coaster of a rookie year with the Whitecaps that saw him get more minutes as the season come to a close. As an 18 year old Salgado had slow time adjusting to playing with men. As he continued to work on his strength and conditioning Salgado was rewarded with more minutes and in turn rewarded the team with a goal and an assist.

Will the Whitecaps go with youth again this year? Will they perhaps go for a more experienced player who is eligible? You can tune into the opening round of the MLS SuperDraft presented by Adidas live at 9AM Pacific on TSN2,RDS2 & ESPN 2 or stream it online at MLSsoccer.com
