Hikers on the Grouse Grind are being asked to leave their portable speakers at home in an effort to reduce loud music on the trail.

Metro Vancouver has set up a sign on the trail informing hikers that no amplified music is allowed.

“If you listen to music, use headphones,” reads the sign.

Don Bradley, media relations for Metro Vancouver, said in an email to Daily Hive that the sign was erected sometime last week “due to a number of complaints about loud music on the trail.”

Bradley said that so far, the signage has been well received by hikers.

Metro Vancouver says the sign is to remind trail-goers about hiking etiquette and more signs will be put up soon.
