Earlier this week, McDonald’s Canada confirmed the fast food juggernaut is launching self-serve touch screen ordering, customizable burgers, and table service, all while adding 15,000 jobs, nationwide.

In August, McDonald’s Canada told Vancity Buzz they were set to begin testing self-serve touch screen kiosks for ordering, including the highly customizable burger options, in a small batch of stores in Ontario and Alberta.

The first McDonald’s location to officially undergo the permanent transformation will be in Toronto (Victoria Park and St. Clair).

Select McDonald’s locations in Australia and the U.S. already offer this modernized option for dining in. The company says they are “re-writing the rules of guest service” in Canada with this approach, and hope to not only demonstrate an embrace of technology, but also the value of “a best-in-class guest experience.”

The company breaks down what the revolution will look like on the ground, from greeters to the kiosks themselves, along with table service from “dedicated wait staff” for orders placed using the computers.

The ordering itself is called “Create Your Taste,” and works as follows, according to McDonald’s Canada:

A new Create Your Taste menu lets guests build their own premium burger in five simple steps. Guests can choose from nearly 30 options including five types of cheese, 12 toppings, two buns, a lettuce wrap and nine sauces.

Oh, and PS, McDonald’s Canada says they want to up their participation in sustainable and local sourcing, as the biz is “continuing its mission to deliver the best-tasting food, using quality ingredients.”

Since, obviously, you’re wondering just when you can go into McD’s and start tapping and eating this, we can tell you that table service and touch screen custom burger orders will be implemented in about 1,000 locations across the country by the end of 2017.
