All the Vancouver mayoral, council candidates focusing on housing
With the Vancouver municipal election just one day away, there is no shortage of choice when it comes to which names to tick on the ballot box for council and mayoral candidates.
In total, between mayoral, council, park, and school board candidates, 158 people have put their names forward in this year’s race.
And while there are a host of issues that each of the candidates are hoping to tackle, concerns around housing affordability is a common theme among the electorate – especially with younger voters.
So to help clear the air on that front, Daily Hive took a look at the profiles of each Vancouver mayoral and council candidate on the city’s to see which ones were prioritizing housing in their election platforms.
How did we choose? On the City of Vancouver’s website, each candidate is asked their top three priorities. The ones that wrote housing affordability (or a close variation of that) in the first slot made the list.
Of course, it goes without saying that “housing affordability” is a big, broad topic, and it’s fair to say that while the theme may be common, each of the candidates provided their own ideas on how to tackle the issue.
Now, to be clear, this is in no way meant to be an endorsement of any of the candidates, but hopefully, it can help clear the air on where some of the candidates stand on what is seen to be the biggest issue currently facing our city.

Voting Day is tomorrow, Saturday, October 20 and polls are open across the city from 8 am to 8 pm.
