Burnaby police seek public help in investigation of 13-year-old Marrisa Shen’s death

After Wednesday’s tragic news, police are asking anyone who saw Marrisa Shen in the hours before her body was discovered to get in touch.

Police confirmed on Wednesday that the body of a 13-year-old girl from Burnaby had been found in Central Park, she is believed to be a victim of homicide.

According to a release issued by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team on Wednesday, Shen was last seen at home at 1 pm on Tuesday, July 18, and last heard from on the phone at 5 pm.

However, in a message that was posted to social media this morning, IHIT confirmed that the information had been updated and that Shen was last seen leaving her home in Burnaby at 6 pm.

Police are asking the public to stay alert and are urging anyone who may have seen Shen after she left her home to contact the police.

Anyone who observed anything of suspicious happening in Central Park during the day or night on Tuesday are also urged to contact police.
