DH Vancouver Staff Aug 28, 2014 12:43 pm

RCMP are seeking for more information and witnesses after a 37-year-old Coquitlam male was attacked by a group of men in a late night incident.

The man was attacked while walking in the 3100 block of Westwood Street on Tuesday, August 12 between 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. He suffered moderate but non-life threatening injuries to his head, but succeeded in fending off the attackers and received medical treatment afterwards.

Investigators believe the attack was an isolated incident. The group of men was initially near a hand carwash and detail business on Westwood Street near Gordon Avenue and they attacked the victim for reasons unknown when he walked by. It is also believed some type of weapon was involved in the assault.

The suspects are described as Asian. They fled the scene in two or more vehicles when they saw someone approaching in a vehicle.

If you have information in relation to the assault, please contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file 2014-22743. Anyone wishing to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477.
