Children’s entertainer Lois Lilienstein, one third of the renown Canadian troupe Sharon, Lois & Bram, has died. She was 78.

Lilienstein died at her home in Toronto, surrounded by loved ones, according to the Canadian Press, as published by CBC.

Lilienstein’s son David says his mother had been diagnosed with a “rare form of cancer” last October.

Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1936, Lilienstein joined Sharon Hampson and Bram Morrison to form their group in 1978. They released their first folk-style children’s album, One Elephant, Deux Éléphants, and launched their first tour of Canada in 1979.

Sharon, Lois & Bram enjoyed a long success with music, concerts, and television. In the 1980s the trio’s “The Elephant Show” aired on CBC.

Lilienstein made other acting appearances, but left the trio in 2000, though Hampson and Morrison continue to tour together as Sharon & Bram.
