Vancouver Model: Kimberley-Rae Churchill

DH Vancouver Staff Feb 21, 2011 12:23 pm

After being born premature by 5 weeks on Groundhogs day, Kimberley-Rae Churchill, (Yes Kimberley-Rae is her first name), has lived her entire life within British Columbia, moving only once and living in her Coquitlam home for 14 years now. Her family has always had a love for animals, and currently own a cat, dog and a love bird. At 19 years old, she has never traveled but wants to see every part of the world. Her ultimate dreams are to star in one of Nicholas Sparks beautifully written stories (films), to model internationally, find ways to better the world, and help those in need.

Vancity Buzz: When and why did you get into modeling?

Kimberly-Rae: I started modeling just over a year ago now! Time sure flies! I had done acting before, and when the dreaded braces were put on; my dreams were put on hold. Once they were off, I couldn’t be happier. I wanted to continue to pursue acting, as it had always been a love of mine, and that’s when I decided – Why not try modeling too?! I feel as if modeling is another form of acting, they go hand in hand. As it turns out I have been booking more modeling jobs than acting and could not be more surprised! I might be considered petite, but I will never let that stop me! This passion started to unfold quickly, and I could not be happier that I have such a wonderful support system; I am able to live my dreams and following my heart.

VcB: If you could only pick one, what has been your favourite photo shoot thus far?

Kimberly-Rae: Off the top of my head, I really enjoyed shooting with Kent Wingerak and his team. It was one of my very first professional shoots, I had been so nervous and praying I would do well. It was a relaxed atmosphere and everyone was really professional. One moment I will always remember from that shoot was when Kent being as generous as he is, offered to do a Starbucks run and asked if anyone would like anything. I replied: “Hmmm… a cookie would be great, thank-you!” A short moment of silence in the room followed, when Kent replied: “I like this girl!”

First starting modeling, I thought nothing of it. Now thinking back, I find it funny people how people assume it’s not “model-like” to eat goodies, and think we don’t eat at all. That is crazy talk! I definitely enjoy desserts and all the girls I’ve modeled with have an appetite as well. Don’t be fooled!

VcB: On your days off you like to?

Kimberly-Rae: I feel like I almost always have something to do! On my days off I like to spend time with my family and friends! At my age a lot of people don’t prioritise time with their family, when that is most important to me. My favourite things to do with the people I love are: go out for dinner / dessert, go downtown, take long walks, attend Bikrams hot yoga, shop, and see movies (comedy! – I am a baby when it comes to scary ones). Depends how I am feeling, really. Some days off I am ready for a full blown exciting day out! Other days, I like to relax at home in my sweatpants. Feeling like you have nothing to do, nowhere to be, and you’re just able to relax is the best feeling. No stress.

VcB: Your favourite thing about Vancouver is?

Kimberly-Rae: As we all know Vancouver is very multicultural, I love going downtown and being able to choose from all different types of shops, restaurants and activities. If you’re craving Chinese food, we’ve got it! Canadian, Mediterranean, Spanish, Japanese, and the list goes on. It’s great having so many options and feeling like you have a choice in everything you do.

Vancouver is a truly amazing and beautiful place.
