BC Parks is sending a warning to hikers headed to Joffee Lakes this long weekend.

In an Instagram post, BC Parks reminded visitors that the overflow parking lot for the park will fill up early each day (by 10 am) and parking is not permitted along the highway.

“Cars parked along the highway this weekend will be towed,” said BC Parks.

According to the post, the popular trail averages over 6,000 hikers each weekend in the summer season.

As the number of visitors increases, the “environmental impact increases as well.”

“If you do go to Joffre Lakes this long weekend, please remember to pack out what you pack in, stay on the trails, do not feed the wildlife, and remember dogs and other domestic pets are prohibited,” said BC Parks.

And remember, for your own safety, please make sure you are prepared before heading out for your long weekend adventure. Information on how to prepare for your trip and stay safe while on your hike is available from North Shore Rescue and AdventureSmart.
