Cooking is an art and like anything creative, it requires inspiration.
So when JOEY Restaurants‘ product development chef, Connor Gabbott, went to Italy to represent Canada in the Barilla Pasta World Championships (AKA a huge deal), he soaked up some serious inspo from the dreamy boot-shaped country.
Gabbott met with Italian chefs and, naturally, he decided to make some incredible pasta just like they were making. Now he’s brought a little piece of Italy back with him, and you can get it at JOEY.
That’s right, you can now enjoy authentic Spaghetti Pomodoro, Chicken Parmesan, and Spaghetti and Meatballs at this family of restaurants.
Considering it’s high comfort food season – there couldn’t be a better time to devour these dishes.
The product development chef wanted to bring the epitome of Italian pasta into his kitchens, but first he had to do his research.
Gabbott’s experience in Italy blew him away. He was shown the ins and outs of the local foodie scene and he tasted some of the best culatello and parmesan you can buy. Gabbott got an understanding of how Italians make prosciuttos, culatellos, and cheeses, and he’s brought all of this back to JOEY.
“What makes Italy so special as a food destination is how serious the Italian culture is about their food,” Gabbott said. “It almost seems like their lives revolve around the kitchen and the dinner table.”
