Academy Award winning director Ron Howard (Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind) has entered the realm of contemporary hip-hop with Made in America, chronicling JAY Z’s Made in America Festival.
The documentary features interviews with many of the acts that performed at the inaugural event in Philadelphia, including Hova himself (who revisits his former “stash spot” of 560 State Street in Brooklyn).
This one-of-a-kind, all-access backstage pass to the festival features performances and interviews with a diverse roster of chart-topping musicians, including Gary Clark Jr., D’Angelo, Dirty Projectors, The Hives, JAY Z, Miike Snow, Janelle Monáe, Odd Future, Rita Ora, Passion Pit, Pearl Jam, Run-D.M.C., Santigold, Jill Scott, Skrillex, and Kanye West.
There’s even footage of Skrillex giving Opie a lesson in dubstep.
Made in America opens exclusively at the Rio Theatre on Thursday, July 17.
